The First Polish Ecotoxicology Workshop „ Application of the systems Microtox/DeltaTox and Toxkit for toxicity assessment” was organized within PROCIENCY programme on 16-17 June 2011 by the Department of Soil Science, Erosion and Land Protection of IUNG-PIB in cooperation with the firm Tigret Sp. z o.o.

The aim of the workshop was to present applications of Microtox/DeltaTox and Toxkit systems for evaluation of the toxicity of surface and underground waters , soils, sewages and sewage sludges. Over 30 participants from the leading scientific units interested in ecotoxicity research as well as from other institutions using microbiotests took part in the Workshop.

The scientific part included 18 oral 10 poster presentations regarding the problems of application of biotests in industry, waste water treatment plants, for assessment of contaminated soils toxicity and effectiveness of bioremediation as well as in ecological risk assessment processes. Practical training included 18 participants and concentrated on the environmental toxicity assessments.

It was organised in the laboratories of the Department of Soil Science, Erosion and Land Protection using Microtox equipment purchased from PROFICIENCY budget.
