Open Days 2011 in Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute IUNG PIB Pulawy, 23-27 May 2011 organized within the PROFICIENCY project by the Department of Extension and Information Traditionally, the Open Days in the IUNG included oral presentations and field demonstrations. Over 550 visitors included mainly students from high and medium agricultural schools, but also farmers and agricultural advisors. The most popular lectures concentrated on conservation and soil tillage, new threats in cereal production and biotechnology. Field demonstrations in the Experimental Station in Osiny were found as the most interesting part of the IUNG offer. The visitors were able to be acquainted with different systems of of plant production (comparison of organic, integrated and conventional systems), new technologies of cereal cultivation, and production of different species of energetic plants. Additionally, the field demonstrations included the Experimental Station in Baborówko (wielkopolskie voivodship), which was visited by students from lubuskie voivodship. Visits in the meteorological station enabled the visitors to see the equipment and understand the the recording of weather parameters. All the school groups received free sets of IUNG-PIB publications: the folders, leaflets, agricultural dictionaries and atlases. |
