organized within the PROFICIENCY project 

The Workshop was organized by the IUNG Department of Soil Science, Erosion and Land Protection in cooperation with the Tigret company, Medical University of Gdańsk and European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology under the auspices of UNESCO. The main objective of the Workshop was to provide practical applications of bioindication systems to assess the toxicity of wastewater, surface water and groundwater, soils and sediments.

The workshop involved 34 people from leading institutions working in the field of ecotoxicology in Poland. The programme of the Workshop covered 14 oral presentations and 12 posters. The Workshop included three sessions focused on the assessment the quality of water and air, the impact assessment of nanomaterials, organic pollutants and metals in the soil environment, modeling the mixture toxicity and the assessment of the effect of emerging pollutants in the environment. Additionally, the legal requirements for the conduct of laboratory tests for the operation of water supply and sewage systems were presented.

The best presentations of young participants were rewarded. Abstracts of all presentations were edited as Conference Materials.
